Your Opportunity

Our Windsor, Ontario office has an opportunity for a Junior Structural Engineer/Engineer in Training at an entry level position. Under the direction of senior project managers this person will undertake structural engineering assignments to support our team’s planning, design, and construction services for primarily municipal infrastructure projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, and masonry structures.

  • Preparing preliminary and final design plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.

  • Coordination of work with other disciplines; and

  • Construction inspection, Contract Administration, and shop drawing review.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience and software literacy with structural design software.

  • Knowledge of all relevant codes and standards (National Building Code of Canada, Ontario Building Code, A23.3 Design of Concrete Structures and CSA S16 – Limit States Design of Steel Structures.

  • Experience with engineering software applications as SAP, ETABS and SAFE;

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written in English;

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects;

  • Demonstrated skill with MS Office is a requirement;

  • Work experience in design of reinforced concrete, structural steel and masonry structures is considered an asset

  • Experience in construction inspection is considered an asset

  • Interest in developing technical and/or project management specialization in a consulting environment is considered an asset

  • Experience in producing aspects of structural design and drawings in AutoCAD, Revit or other BIM tools is considered an asset

  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to your own vehicle are required for this position.

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a background in structural design, from an accredited university; and

  • Ability to be registered with PEO as a P.Eng (progressing to P.Eng. designation).

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work will be required and may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Our group operates under a hybrid work strategy with work expectations being a combination of work from home and in-office support (3-days per week in office).
